Weather Links

I chose three links for the weather information. This will hopefully grow as time goes on:        I chose these links particularly because the only information offered is statistics. There isn’t too much information, weather-wise, on my location. Asking the locals about the weather varies from person to person. Some say it hasn’t changed in the past twenty-five years. Others say different. All of these links give me plain numbers to work with, and tools to compare and contrast easily. All of these sources allow me to change the dates so I can explore the history, although weather.com is limited in this. However, the radar map is easier to understand. NOAA is a map I hope to get to learn how to navigate easier as well. My reasons for wanting pure numbers is I am trying to restore a native garden, but the sun is so intense, even my plants requiring ‘full sun, minimal water’ are struggling. My Study Area

            The area I am picking for my study is Lake Mendocino, located in Ukiah, Ca. I have been working at this lake for a year as a Park Ranger for the U.S Army Corps of Engineers. I have learned a lot about the area and its history, and I am eager to learn more. Since coming here, I have partnered with the California Native Plant Society in regards to the vegetation. One of my current projects is restoring a native garden. I have also done work with the Fish and Wildlife team for the SteelHead Trout. I have also recently completed a training for the top ten most invasive species that threaten the lake.             What I hope to gain from this study is better understanding of the environmental history of the area. The Definition Of Biodiversity

         Biodiversity, to me, is the amount of diversity of life found in an ecosystem. This can be split into marine, terrestrial, species and genetic diversity (adapted from Sciencing, https://sciencing.com/four-types-biodiversity-8714.html  (Links to an external site.) Links to an external site. )            Biodiversity is essential for stability. Every species has it's place on Earth, even the smallest. Bees pollinate flowers, which in turn provide fruits and vegetables for other animals and humans. Even before this step, bees and other insects act as a food source for other animals, and can be for humans as well. Birds act as prey and predator, keeping everything in balance. One gets taken away, and it's only a matter of time before another follows suit. On a local, regional, and international level, predators are being depleted rapidly.
